                                                  "Actions speak louder than words"

           An often overused cliche but usually a necessary cliche for "lack of a better one"

                    In recent years Pittsburgh has welcomed several reggae acts

  Junior Reid, Fambo, Bugle, Freddie Mcgregor, Chino, Elephant Man, Laden, G Whizz, Charly Black, Oriel, Wailers, Shaggy, The Marleys just to name a few

     Being that Pittsburgh has a relatively small reggae community most of these shows when compared to bigger markets such as New York , Miami etc had moderate turnouts but in most instances were some great shows.

             Kudos to all the above names mentioned. Thank You for performing for Pittsburgh People.

   Let me highlight three names in reggae:

                                 COCO TEA , ETANA , LOUIE CULTURE

                    The sunrise in Negril tour is supposed to feature these individuals.

We were contacted a week before Wednesday October 29th to organize a tour launch/autograph signing on the forementioned date. Reluctantly myself, Trainer (owner of Taboo) and other key reggae people in Pittsburgh took on the project in good faith thinking even though it was rushed it would be a nice experience for some of our patrons.

                 On the night we attracted 75 to 100 patrons (not bad for a wednesday night with 5 days promo)
                 The artists who were in a parked SUV outside the club decided there was not a sufficient number of people (PAYING CUSTOMERS) in the venue to warrant them entering and opted to go back to their hotel rooms.

              When you hear these names and remember there catalogue of music you think:

                   These are some of the positive wholesome people in reggae right????

Concepts in music seem to be frequenting every corner of the spectrum , you have the "positive" music, the sexual music, the spiritual music, Godly music, Demonic music ..... you describe it ... there is that type of music

J Yungg's "Sinner's Prayer" (released late 2012) seemed to have an interesting twist to it when we first heard the track.
     Here is a man asking God for forgiveness of him "SINNING BUT WINNING" but in the same breath bragging about his "SINNING BUT WINNING"

APOLOGETIC WITH NO INTENTION TO STOP 

The song makes reference to power in rings, which is directly derived from Urban Legends believed to by a certain demographic in Jamaica

 Add Free masonry to the equation, as J Yungg is seen donning a free mason ring in the music video, and opinions about this witty song would be equivalent to my description of music concepts in the opening paragraph.

Whether you think the song is about "making money", "scamming" or even .......

"selling your soul" .... Most agree that J Yungg's Sinner's Prayer has the potential to be the anthem for whatever cause or interpretation you deem appropriate

It's been a while since I expressed my support and belief in recording artist J-Yungg's talent and future in our music business.

J-Yungg has worked on a few Clan compilations such as The SOY SAWCE RIDDIM , HEVVY METTAL RIDDIM and S -FACTION RIDDIM  (not yet released)

It should not be a surprise to most people that J - Yungg is now officially a Lamar Clan Artist so what time like the present to announce the First Lamar Clan J Yungg single.

We decided on this initial project for various reasons:

1. The song is FIRE and it has an international appeal

2.  Most people (if not all) would agree that they are hustling to make that money to take care of themselves and their families and alot would not put many limits on the activities they perform to get this money

 lets be honest  99.999999999%  percent of us are more accurately described as "SINNERS" as opposed to "SAINTS"

Me and Angie had a two night stay at an all inclusive hotel in Negril

We were there for almost a day and a half enjoying all the amnemities and the food and drink and beach.

Dinner time day two we walked into the restaurant and we were stopped and asked where our wrist bands were

We asked "what wristbands?"

We were informed that every guest has a wrist band

We didn't know about the wristbands because we didnt get them when we checked in

For a day and a half we saw no one with wristbands but at this instant every guest we reviewed had wrist bands except us.

Thoughts are not equivalent to reality, knowledge can only be acquired from a reputable source

Your opinions and thoughts in regards to:

a person, thing, situation or place is not necessarily equivalent to the reality of each instance

A word of advice from me , Fudgie Springer and I rep Lamar Clan

   My "My love" journey started last year when I listened to an audio from BCIF (my weekly event in Pittsburgh) and heard a song Undateka played at the end and the beginning ... "Is love mi wah give her" immediately grabbed my attention.

I initially thought yo this is siiik ....

I investigated and found that it was a song that Oriel initially recorded with Ras Maisha and later re-did with Pittsburgh Hip Hop artist De'von. At the time it was a project spear headed by our associates over at Afar Music Group.

I liked the song, but I thought this needs to be a straight reggae track

After a few meetings and discussions all parties involved agreed that this should be a lamar clan reggae project.

To summarise what happened after this point:

I contacted Bugle, he recorded his verses, we released the song (available on itunes and all digital outlets http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/my-love-feat.-oriel-single/id496939959) and in January we all flew to Miami to shoot the video.

ok fast forward to this past week.....

We had the official premiere of My Love in Pittsburgh which was also a listening party (this gave patrons a chance to hear some of our upcoming projects)

The event was a huge success, the people in attendance (mostly press, music industry people and reggae patrons) were wowed by Oriel's first performance anywhere, they were delighted by some of the new music they heard in their ears, the Royal Caribbean catered food took their tastebuds on a caribbean vacation, and they got to be the a part of the selected few, the FIRST to see the OFFICIAL MY LOVE VIDEO.

Donsville from DMG the actual mastermind behind the video was in attendance and he shared his vision and introduced the video. Wadria Taylor from Style and Steel Event Planning (the obvious planner of the event) and myself hosted the event and kept it moving along and after the video was shown Oriel joined us on stage and we answered the many questions on people's minds.

The first time I heard this infectious hook

I was like

"Who and what's that?!? DAT BAD!!!!"

Then it was a song with Undateka (Oriel) and a local hip hop artist De'von. I loved the hook but being a reggae head I only liked the verses (rap verses) . It was a project that Oriel was working for with our partners in crime over at AFAR MUSIC.

After several meetings, discussions and arguements and fights lol we all eventually agreed that this should be a 100% reggae song (and from yu say reggae it suddenly became a LAMAR CLAN project).

Initially I thought maybe I would do the verses then I thought of the best way to get the maximum exposure of not only the song but of Lamar Clan's soon to be sensation Oriel. It was I no brainer I immediately called Bugle and pitched the idea ....
